Facing Equatorial Guinea reduced to 10, Guinea won its round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations with a goal from Mohamed Bayo in the 90th + 8, Sunday (0-1).

In a round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations between two of the continent’s three Guineas, Guinea-Conakry defeated Equatorial Guinea at the end of added time (0-1) on Sunday in Abidjan. It was Mohamed Bayo who qualified the national Sily in the 98th minute of the game, even though his team had never won a knockout match in its entire history!

The meeting, unspectacular, changed at the start of the second half with a huge mistake by Federico Bikoro transformed into a red card (55th). Outnumbered, Nzalang Nacional missed the opportunity to create a surprise from the penalty spot, Emilio Nsue hitting the post (68th)!

Guirassy comes into play

The Guineans then had to win… Serhou Guirassy was launched by his coach Kaba Diawara (60th), but it was Bayo, with a header from a cross from Ibrahim Diakité, who gave the victory to his team a few seconds from a possible extension. Mouctar Diakhaby and his teammates will face the winner of Egypt-DRC, which will be played in the evening.
