AS Roma intend to sign Jurgen Klopp to replace José Mourinho at the helm of the Serie A side this summer, according to a report.
The Italian side recently fired Portuguese coach Mourinho and are looking for a permanent replacement, having appointed Daniele De Rossi as coach until the end of the season. According to Il Messaggero, the capital club have made Klopp, the Liverpool coach, their main target to take over.
Klopp to Roma?
Klopp announced on Friday that he would step down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season, after almost nine years in charge of the Anfield side. It’s unclear where he will end up, but it appears Roma believe they can lure him to Serie A.
Roma are currently seventh in Serie A and sit two points off the top four. The Roman side are hoping to improve on their disappointing season so far, which has led to the dismissal of former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Mourinho. Klopp will go to the end of the season with Liverpool before ending his mandate at the helm of the Reds. The German coach will then consider his options before choosing to continue his career at another club.
