While OM hosts ASM this Saturday evening as part of the 19th day of L1, Gennaro Gattuso has a funny surprise in store for his group.

Here is a reinforcement that we did not necessarily expect in Marseille. While Pablo Longoria recruited two full-backs this winter to strengthen the left lane of the Olympian defense – Quentin Merlin and Ulisses Garcia – there is a third defensive reinforcement who joined the club these days through the back door: Stéphane Sparagna .

Trained at OM and launched into the deep end by Marcelo Bielsa in 2014, the person concerned, now 28 years old, joined the Marseille city these days from Aubagne (National 2) – this in order to allow to the reserve, which plays in National 3, to gain experience. And here he is called up for the Ligue 1 match between Marseille and Monaco this Saturday evening.

A decimated defensive sector

Gennaro Gattuso decided to call the native of Marseille to expand his group. Chancel Mbemba being at the CAN, Samuel Gigot being suspended and Amir Murillo being injured, only Leonardo Balerdi and Bamo Méïté are expected to compose the axis of defense, in addition to the counter-use of midfielder Jean Onana. “ If I have to go and do something higher up (in the first team, editor’s note), I give myself the right to believe in it », had whispered Stéphane Sparagna on his return to OM. No sooner said than done.
