Fabio Vieira, the big absentee from Arsenal, is attracting the interest of several Ligue 1 clubs.

According to Football Transfers, Monaco and another French team have inquired about the 23-year-old, who has missed playing time this season. Although he has made 13 appearances this season, only two of them have resulted in starts. Regular minutes of play could therefore prove valuable.

A player losing momentum

Vieira joined Arsenal from Porto just over 18 months ago for a fee that could rise to almost £35million, but he has failed to live up to that price tag high so far. With the Gunners one of several teams trying to avoid falling foul of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, the Portugal international’s withdrawal could come into play.

Vieira’s contract at the Emirates expires in the summer of 2027, having been signed for five years. So far, the attacking midfielder, who has scored 14 goals in 25 caps for his country, has made 46 appearances for the Gunners, scoring three goals and providing 10 assists.

The former Porto player, who has suffered a groin problem in recent weeks, is hoping to get playing time back with Arsenal. Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has said he could return to action in February. As long as he doesn’t leave before then.
