Having gone through the African Cup of Nations, Riyad Mahrez expressed his dismay after the elimination of the Fennecs.

Ambitious before the start of the competition, Algeria ultimately did not get past the pitfall of the group stage during the African Cup of Nations. After two first draws against Angola and Burkina Faso, the Fennecs lost to Mauritania (0-1). A failure which led Djamel Belmadi to resign and earned severe criticism from all the players in the selection.

“We weren’t good, we weren’t up to par. That’s two CANs in a row, three deadlines, that we’ve missed. We are the first ones responsible. I’m first at the front and I put everyone behind, there’s no problem.”confided on this subject Riyad Mahrez, completely through the competition.

For many observers, the former Mancunian could quickly announce his international retirement. “My career with the national team, now is not the time to talk about it. There will be a good time, when it will be necessary to speak and I will speak. For now we’re talking about the team”he said on this subject, adding: “I can’t tell you what my goal is. My head is upside down. It’s not easy to come out of such a failure.”
