Nemanja Matic remains in Ligue 1. An agreement was reached this Thursday between Rennes and Lyon.

He was very clear on the subject, after barely six months spent in Brittany. Nemanja Matic did not want to end the season at Stade Rennais. After hours of crisis meetings and negotiations, François Pinault’s club resigned itself to releasing the experienced midfielder, and to dealing with Olympique Lyonnais who in the early hours of the transfer window took an interest in the Serbian’s case.

The discussions between the two clubs were concluded this Thursday, reports RMC, which specifies that OL has always been the priority choice of the player, also courted by English clubs and particularly sought after by Besiktas Istanbul in recent weeks. The details of the transaction have not yet filtered but the price of 2 million euros has been mentioned.

19 matches in Rennes

At 35, Nemanja Matic signed for Rennes for two years this summer, from AS Roma. The former Chelsea and Manchester United captain still played 19 games in the red and black jersey.
