Finances: exceptional results for PSG!

Every year, the Deloitte firm unveils its Money League, a study which takes stock of the finances of European clubs. This concerns in particular the clubs which generate the most money in the 2022/2023 season, and which therefore have the highest turnover. Please note, this is indeed a turnover and not the net profits made by these big teams.

A number of factors are taken into account, such as ticketing, the sale of derivative products or income linked to TV rights. And last season, Real Madrid came out on top. The Merengues thus doubled Manchester City, with a turnover of 831.4 million euros, or more 118 million euros than the previous year. An increase attributed in part to revenues linked to ticketing which have exploded. The Cityzens, well helped by the income linked to their final coronation in the Champions League, still remain in the wheel of the Merengues with a turnover of 825 million euros.

PSG is ahead of some very beautiful people

And in third place, it’s PSG! This is the first time that the club from the French capital is on the podium, with a turnover of 802 million euros. Which is quite an achievement for a club that does not necessarily play in a championship as internationally publicized as the Premier League or La Liga. A rise in this top 3 which can still be explained in particular by this famous CVC deal, which boosted Paris Saint-Germain’s revenues. The Ile-de-France residents barely overtake FC Barcelona (€800 million), which moved from seventh to fourth place, also helped by a few external levers.

Behind the Catalans, we find more or less the usual teams, namely Manchester United (€746 million), Bayern Munich (€744 million) and Liverpool (€682 million). A top 10 completed by three London clubs, namely Tottenham (€631 million), Chelsea (€589 million) and Arsenal (€532 million). Note that Olympique de Marseille, the other French club present in this top 20, is precisely twentieth with a turnover of 258.4 million euros, just behind clubs like West Ham and Naples.
