Manchester United have been urged to sign Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad to “relieve pressure” on Rasmus Hojlund and reignite the race for top spot.

The 36-year-old struggled to settle in Saudi Arabia and was reportedly looking to leave the Middle Eastern country. Ince, who is considered one of the greatest English midfielders of all time, believes the Red Devils should lure Benzema to Old Trafford as Hojlund and Marcus Rashford have been down since the start of the campaign.

Everyone would be better off with Benzema

“If Man United can get Karim Benzema, they absolutely have to take him. By signing Benzema, the entire club, including the fans, would feel better. It doesn’t matter that he’s 36, he’s a world-class player. It would be great if the club could get him – it would take a lot of pressure off Hojlund and could propel him into the top four spots. He is an outstanding scorer. If he leaves the Saudi Pro League, several teams will try to sign him, that’s for sure. »

United spent £72 million to buy Hojlund this summer, but the striker has scored just two goals in 16 Premier League appearances to date. The high price tag adds to the pressure and Ince believes Benzema’s arrival would allow the young man to express himself more freely. “ If Manchester United are interested in him (Benzema), it takes some pressure off Rasmus Hojlund, who is still a young striker and would prefer to have an experienced player to inspire him,” added the former Manchester United midfielder.

“He would no longer have the pressure to score every time he plays, and he could spend his time in training learning from one of the best. It would be a great deal for United if they could sign him, really.” Benzema has brushed aside speculation about his departure from Al-Ittihad. He accused the French media of spreading lies and denied submitting a transfer request to the club.
