The coach of the French women’s team reacted to the rumor which sent him to the bench of the Algerian team.

Djamel Belmadi has not yet been removed from his post as Algeria coach. And he may even stay in his position until the 2026 World Cup. But rumors regarding his succession are rife. And among the names put forward is that of Hervé Renard.

Fox politely declined.

Renard knows the African continent very well, having managed teams such as Zambia, Morocco or Ivory Coast. He has even already officiated in Algeria, for USM Alger. He is mentioned almost logically every time the Fennecs are looking for a coach. This was already the case in 2018 before Belmadi’s appointment to this position.

The French coach got wind of these behind-the-scenes noises. And he saw fit to share his position. “I thank the Algerians for their interest in me but I am focused on the French women’s team until August 2024,” he declared, according to comments reported by the Algerian media El Bilad.

Renard has therefore not completely closed the door to an experiment with the Greens. He suggests that he remains open to discussions after the Paris Olympics, his big objective with the Bleues. But, this is just a guess. He could very well have responded that way out of politeness.

Zidane future coach of the Fennecs?

Zidane, the dream of Algerians

Other names are also associated with the double African champions. We are talking in particular about a return of Christophe Gourcuff, or even that of Vahid Halilhodzic. And the fantasy of all Algerians is the arrival of Zinédine Zidane. It seems like a dream, but not a totally crazy dream. When he started as a coach, the French legend said he would be ready to help his country of origin if his services were called upon.
