Winner of Hong Kong (3-0), Palestine qualified for the first time for the round of 16 of the Asian Cup.
This is a moment in history for Palestinian football. The Palestine team qualified for the round of 16 of the Asian Cup for the first time ever, a competition they are playing in for the third edition in a row.
After a defeat against Iran (4-1), and a draw against the United Arab Emirates (1-1), Makram Daboub’s men got the better of Hong Kong (3-0), with a double ‘Oday Dabbagh (12th, 60th), the Charleroi striker, and a goal from Zaid Al Qanbar (48th). Incidentally, this is the very first victory for the Palestinians in an Asian Cup.
With four points taken and a goal difference of 0, Palestine are assured of being among the best third-placed teams in the group stage, and will therefore face a group winner in the round of 16.
The Palestine team is so heroic in this Asian Cup.
Currently leading 3-0 against Hong Kong and securing a historic round of 16 qualification which would be their FIRST victory in official competition.
