Returning from Turkey where he experienced an ordeal, Paul Bernardoni dwelled on the death of his dog, poisoned.

Five months and then leaves: Paul Bernardoni will have only passed through Turkey. But his few months spent at Konyaspor were particularly trying for the French goalkeeper. Unpaid salaries, lies from his leaders, sidelining or forced exile of his wife: the former Angevin lived through real hell in Turkey.

But by his own admission, the worst memory will remain the death of his dog just a few days after his arrival on Turkish soil. “My dog was poisoned after four days on Turkish soil. We went for a walk and within forty minutes he was gone. It was the biggest emotional shock of my life. He accompanied me from the start of my career, he was almost nine years old, it’s very important to me”he told in the columns of L’Equipe.

At the time of his disappearance, Paul Bernardoni paid tribute to his dog on Instagram. “A dog is man’s best friend. Berni has accompanied us in each of our events since 2017. So endearing, you naturally adopted him as the star of the account and regularly asked me for news. It is with great sadness that I write to you that Berni died today during our daily walk. When a dog comes into our lives, he gives us a piece of his heart. When he leaves, he takes a piece of ours. Thank you for these 7 too short years my Berni”he wrote.

Because Berni had played a valuable role at his side while he was going through a complicated period with the Girondins. “ In Bordeaux, I had a very difficult time and I took Berni. This is what allowed me to go out and meet people. I was able to escape from football which was a bit heavy “, he explained to Objectif Gard.
