The Sommer, the big announcement

Star striker of the French women’s team which will participate in the Olympic Games football tournament, Eugénie Le Sommer was chosen by Morbihan to carry the Olympic flame on June 6.

Top scorer in the history of the French women’s team (93 goals) as well as the OL women’s team (296 goals), Eugénie Le Sommer, certainly a native of Grasse, grew up in Morbihan. She trained at FC Lorient before starting in the pros with Saint-Brieuc. The star player of Les Bleues, 34, was chosen by the Morbihan department to carry the Olympic flame on June 6.

La Fennote will therefore spend “at home” after the season, which will conclude in May with the last day of the D1 Arkéma on May 17 and, for the Lyon juggernaut, possibly the final of the Coupe de France or even that of the Women’s Champions League on May 25 (the Coupe de France final will be rescheduled in the event of French participation in the LDC final).

If all goes well, “ELS” will obviously be one of the star players of Hervé Renard’s women’s EDF who will participate in the women’s tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with matches on July 25, 31 and 28 at Groupama Stadium and to Geoffroy-Guichard (the second meeting). For the two French football teams, only a possible final will be played in Paris, at the Parc des Princes.
