Cristiano Ronaldo believes Manchester City’s Champions League victory last season was long overdue and believes Pep Guardiola’s side can retain their title.
City won the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history last season, beating Inter 1-0 in the final in Istanbul. Ronaldo, who won one European Cup with Manchester United and four with Real Madrid, believes Pep Guardiola’s side would have deserved the trophy much sooner.
Ronaldo flattering with City
“ Manchester City were extraordinary. Congratulations on their season. The players, the coach. Stunning. They finally win the Champions League, they undoubtedly deserved it two years ago. I like to see them play. Manchester City has a good chance of winning the Champions League again. Favorites ? Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern.
It’s no surprise to see Ronaldo once again championing glory for Guardiola’s side. City strengthened their treble-winning squad over the summer by spending big on players such as Jeremy Doku, Josko Gvardiol and Matheus Nunes. The European champions also cruised through the Champions League group stage, finishing with a 100% success rate, which saw them face FC Copenhagen in the round of 16.
