Winter is hot on the transfer window at Stade Rennais. Nemanja Matic on the departure, a new environment is hoped for including Rémois Azor Matusiwa. For the attack also, the club coached by Julien Stéphan intends to offer itself a new cartridge. This could be Vangelis Pavlidis (25 years old) who is particularly popular at Stade Rennais. The Greek striker is, it must be said, in very good form with his club AZ Alkmaar.

An effective striker, Vangelis Pavlidis has simply scored 22 goals and 3 goals in 29 matches played this season. He is also the second top scorer in the Eredivisie (18 goals) just one behind Mexican Santiago Giménez (Feyenoord). Arriving a year and a half from the end of his contract (June 2025), he is quite naturally a credible candidate for departure.

A first offer refused

According to our information, Stade Rennais took advantage of this situation to make a first offer to the Kaaskoppen (the cheese heads, editor’s note). This reached around 10 million euros but it was refused by the Dutch club. The latter are instead demanding an amount of around 20 million euros. An important figure which could cool down Stade Rennais. Especially since at the same time, a preferred suitor interfered in the matter.

Wanting to recruit an attacker this winter and having not yet made their choice, AC Milan particularly appreciates the profile of Vangelis Pavlidis and could go on the attack. AZ Alkmaar also believes that the Rossoneri will be more capable of formulating an offer close to their demands. While in less than a month they will meet on the field in the Europa League play-offs, Stade Rennais and AC Milan are already facing each other in the transfer window.
