On the occasion of Valentin Rosier’s presentation this Friday, the sports director of OGC Nice returned to the situation of Youcef Atal.

This Friday, theOGC Nice made its second recruit of the winter official by presenting Valentin Rosier (27 years old), who arrives on loan from Besiktas. A right-back by trade, the former Dijon player could therefore compensate for the absence of Youcef Atal, party to the CAN with Algeria, but perhaps also in the long term. Sentenced to eight months in prison for “provocation to hatred on grounds of religion” after reposting a video on his Instagram account, the Algerian international has not played with Las Aiglons since October 1 (against Brest, 0-0) and remained sidelined from the group after serving his seven-match suspension.

Atal still from Nice, for the moment

Present at a press conference for Rosier’s presentation, Nice sports director Florent Ghisolfi nevertheless assured that his arrival was in no way linked to Atal’s situation. “Youcef is under contract today (until June 2024), he is one of the team’s full-backs. We were already on Valentin this summer, it’s not from today and Youcef’s situation. Youcef is at the CAN, we support him on that side. We’ll see what happens by the end of the transfer window.”did he declare. RMC Sport affirmed in any case at the beginning of January that the Riviera club would not be against parting ways with Atal this winter.
