At PSG since the summer of 2023, Manuel Ugarte is gradually making his mark. Asked by ESPNhe spoke about his first months in the French capital. “Everything happened very quickly. I was recently in Uruguay, which is totally different, then I went to Portugal where everything was really amazing, I will always be grateful to the country and the way it received me. And now I have arrived at a very big club like PSG here in France, and the truth is that in the short time I have been there I feel very happy. I have a lot of experiences and I learn a lot.”
He then confided that he was very happy to have won his first title in Paris, the Trophée des Champions. Finally, he took advantage of this interview to compare Luis Enrique, his club coach, to Marcelo Bielsa, who manages him in the Uruguayan selection. “In general, they agree on a lot of things. Bielsa’s style of play is more about attacking with pressure and moving forward as quickly as possible, Luis Enrique’s is more about ball possession. But in many ways they are similar.” The two coaches are also counting a lot on the promising Ugarte.
