Without a club since his departure from OL last summer, Jérôme Boateng (35) has never hidden his desire to return to the highest level. Several times offered to Bundesliga clubs, the German world champion has often been rejected in his country. The central defender, however, would have found a new base in Italy. The Salernitana club would like to offer the services of the 35-year-old player according to Sky Sports. Last in the championship, the Italians want to strengthen their defense. Filippo Inzaghi, the team’s coach, also wants a man with experience to try to save himself in the elite.

With nearly 600 matches under his belt, the German could indeed bring serenity to the worst defense in Serie A. Still according to the Italian media, Franck Ribéry could play a key role in the negotiation between the club and Jérôme Boateng. The two men were teammates for several seasons at Bayern Munich and know each other well. The former French international is now part of the Salernitana technical staff.
