Warren Zaire-Emery has not yet signed a new deal with Paris SG. We now know why.

Warren Zaire-Emery, one of the strong men of PSG this season, could become the “Steven Gerrard” of Paris to quote Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently. But, before thinking of making this youngster an emblem of the Ile-de-France club, we must already succeed in locking him down. And it’s not yet completely done.

Details to be resolved for Zaire-Emery’s new contract

Negotiations for a new contract have been going on for several months and have still not been concluded. At the moment there appear to be two obstacles to finalizing a new deal. But obstacles far from insurmountable.

According to Le Parisien, PSG cannot extend Zaire-Emery before the latter reaches his majority. That is to say next March. Furthermore, discussions between the two parties concern the duration of the deal. There is no question of signing for just one additional year. This should be a long-term commitment, but precisely how long remains to be seen.

Zaire-Emery is expected to stay in Paris until at least 2029.

PSG is not worried

Regardless, there is optimism on both sides. There is a common desire to continue together and that is the essential thing. Even if there is interest from some important European clubs, including Manchester City, there is no reason to fear failure in this matter.

As a reminder, WZE made its debut with Paris last season under the orders of Galtier. Since then, he has gradually established himself as one of the key players in this team, until he has become indispensable. An express rise which notably opened the doors to the French team last fall.
