PSG shows a financial loss of €109.8 million!

When we talk about money, Paris Saint-Germain often impresses with the amounts it spends or generates since the Qataris of QSI came to power. In its latest report, which concerns the 2022/2023 season, Football Benchmark confirms that the capital club has achieved some financial feats. The club is valued at 2.858 billion euros, eighth in the ranking. And it has the second most valuable squad in Europe, tied with Real Madrid (1.152 billion euros), behind Manchester City (1.414 billion euros) and ahead of Bayern Munich (1.023 billion euros).

PSG also recorded a significant 20% increase in turnover, reaching €802 million, which allowed the Rouge et Bleu to exceed the €800 million mark for the first time in the club’s history. These €802 million break down as follows: €399 million in terms of commercial revenue, €249 million for TV rights (L1 and European Cup) and €153 million from ticketing. Very positive figures for a club which was one of the big victims of the COVID period.

PSG’s huge payroll

However, Football Benchmark tells us that Paris Saint-Germain remains the club with the most losses among the European champions analyzed for the second year in a row with losses of €109.8 million. Nevertheless, a positive trend should be highlighted with the 70% reduction in net losses compared to the previous season. They were not Serie A champions, but Juventus are the only team doing worse with €123.7 million in losses. Note that the third worst performer in the class is Olympique Lyonnais with €99 million in losses.

Thanks to its extraordinary transactions (economic levers), FC Barcelona is visibly the most profitable club with €303.7 million in profits. Finally, with a positive balance of €22.6 million, Bayern Munich posted a positive net result for the 31st consecutive year. To explain this negative result for PSG, we must look in part to salaries. The capital club had the second largest payroll in Europe with €633.7 million annually (Messi and Neymar were still there), just behind FC Barcelona (€639 million) and ahead of Manchester City (486.3 million). €).
