Gonçalo Ramos started and scored against Revel in the Coupe de France (9-0), but the Portuguese striker has been in the news more lately because of his absences. Definitively recruited by Paris Saint-Germain in exchange for around sixty million euros, the former Benfica striker is clearly not part of Luis Enrique’s typical eleven.
Author of 4 goals and 1 assist in 19 appearances, all competitions combined, the Portuguese does not perform well. And now, it’s Kylian Mbappé who plays up front, with Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé at his side. More room therefore for Ramos, whose profile would not please Luis Enrique. A situation which ended up worrying Lusitanian observers. However, Record just brought us another version of the story.
PSG reportedly asked Benfica for help
According to the Lusitanian daily, if Ramos has been missing in recent weeks, it is because he had a serious health problem which affected his performances. Ramos suffered from a severe viral infection which even caused him to lose 6kg! A virus which hampered the player in training and which would therefore have forced his coach to leave him aside for a good part of the month of December.
His case would have deteriorated during his return to the country for the Christmas holidays. Gonçalo Ramos would have been hospitalized and the PSG medical staff would have asked his Benfica counterpart to help him with follow-up and logistics. A request that the Aguias would have accepted without batting an eyelid. Today, Ramos would have returned to his normal weight and this story would only be in the past.
