José Mourinho, the famous Portuguese manager, has revealed the time he ignored advice from Sir Alex Ferguson.
AS Roma coach José Mourinho has said Sir Alex Ferguson recommended a player to him when he was in charge of Manchester United. A friendly suggestion that he had chosen to deliberately ignore.
Ferguson advised a player to Mourinho
“Sir Alex Ferguson has only given me one piece of advice in two and a half years: “Buy Dele Alli”. He told me that this guy, with his mentality, his way of playing, the aggression and that he was the Manchester United player par excellence. Generally, he (Ferguson) has an eye for a player. But he (Alli) is not good at training and there is always a need to motivate him,” told the Special One.
Mourinho therefore did not listen to the highly respected Scottish technician. Ironically, he still ended up finding Alli during his stay at Tottenham. The collaboration between the two men did not go very well. The friction between them was also immortalized in the series for Amazon, where we see the Portuguese coach refocusing his player and giving him advice on how to manage his career.
Alli didn’t listen to him. Since then, his career has taken a negative turn. He has continued to regress and today he finds himself without a club after a failed experience at Besiktas in Istanbul.
