A former Real Madrid player thinks that FC Barcelona will go straight to the wall if they keep Xavi as coach.
Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Santiago Canizares believes Xavi is on borrowed time at Barcelona.
“Barça must think about replacing Xavi”
Xavi found himself under pressure after Barca’s defeat in the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid on Sunday. A match where his men were completely outclassed.
Canizares told Radio Marca: “ Just like last season, Xavi conquered the locker room, this year the message no longer seems to have an effect. Everyone plays their role a little, the team has lost coherence and collective effort and the coach is obliged to recover that. When a team is out of control, the coach is also responsible. I wouldn’t blame Xavi now, but I would think about who will replace him. I don’t think things will get better.”
Asked if the Blaugrana players have let go of Xavi, Canizares replied: “It’s not about sabotage, because no one wants to lose in the world of football. The player doesn’t like to make a fool of himself, I don’t really think it’s a question of letting go of the coach.”
