Former Roma manager Fabio Capello has criticized the club’s owners following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho.

Capello criticizes Roma officials

The Friedkins sacked the Portuguese manager and replaced him with former Roma captain Daniele De Rossi, who only served as top-level manager for three months at SPAL.

Capello said he was shocked by this decision during an intervention on Sky Italia : “As far as Mourinho is concerned, it seems to me that these American owners have a way of handling situations without respect for those who work with them. Let’s remember how (Paolo) Maldini was fired by Milan, and now Mourinho with his methods… There is no sensitivity among them, there is only business. I believe in something different, you have to respect those who work with you and some things have to be communicated in a different way.”

While pitying Mourinho, “Don Fabio” wished good luck to De Rossi, his former player. “It’s a big jump for Daniele… He takes charge of a team that is struggling, especially in terms of number of players. But it’s an opportunity for him… I started him in the Italian Cup with Triestina. He will have to show what he is capable of, knowing the Roman environment well. He was very good on the pitch, now we will see what he will do on the bench. Now the difficult part begins, he has to understand the team and the players, stimulate them and make them understand that they are a real team.”

As a reminder, Fabio Capello is the coach who gave Roma their very last Scudetto. It was in 2001.
