A masterpiece invalidated, and Algeria misses out

Algeria had to settle for a draw with Angola for its entry into the CAN this Monday (1-1).

What a desappointment ! Counting among the favorites for the African Cup of Nations, the Algerians were unable to get the better of the Angolans this Monday at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké. If they quickly found the fault, with a nice recovery in the middle of the race signed Bounedjah (1-0, 18e), the men of Belmadi finally became disillusioned.

Two facts of play were contrary and detrimental to them in this meeting: the marvel of acrobatic return sent into the net by Bounedjah but invalidated for a slight offside first (2e). Then the penalty clumsily conceded by Bentaleb in front of Mabululu – who was quick to equalize straight away (1-1, 68e).

This obviously does not help matters for the Greens, who still have to do battle with Burkina Faso and Mauritania in this group. Algeria, which did not pass the group stage during the previous CAN and did not qualify for the last World Cup, burned a joker this Monday.
