Sunday at Old Trafford, Manchester United led twice against Tottenham without managing to win (2-2). The Red Devils are dropped in the Premier League standings.
Under the eyes of British billionaire Jim Ractliffe, now in charge of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils were content with a draw against Tottenham (2-2), Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford, for the count of the 21st day of the Premier League. The Mancunians ended the year with a defeat against Nottingham Forest (2-1), two weeks ago, and remain stuck in the soft underbelly of the ranking, in 7th place, still eight points behind Spurs, who are 5th. . The top 4 gets further away each weekend for this team which is not very brilliant collectively.
United, however, led twice thanks to strong achievements from Rasmus Hojlund (3rd) and Marcus Rashford (40th), the Danish center forward becoming his team’s top scorer this season in all competitions. Richarlison equalized with a nice header (19th) and Rodrigo Bentancur, found by winter recruit Timo Werner, responded from the start in the second half (46th).
United held on well, still with Raphaël Varane as a defensive rock, but were unable to prove dangerous before a huge missed opportunity by Scott McTominay in added time. United will try to revive in two weeks against Wolverhampton, while Tottenham will host Brentford.
