Real Madrid defender Eder Militao has revealed that his teammate Vinicius Jr was not the only one who was subjected to racial abuse last season against Valencia.
When Los Blancos faced Che last season, the football world learned that the Real Madrid winger had been the victim of racial violence by a group of supporters at the Mestalla. Valencia quickly ruled out the fans responsible, but during a court hearing into the incident, Vinicius’ club and national team-mate Militao revealed he too had been the target of racist abuse.
This question remains a problem in Spanish football, as many such incidents, notably with Vinicius, have been reported over the past two years. Militao is currently in the final stages of recovery after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament on the opening day of the season with the Spanish giants. Ancelotti recently revealed that the Brazilian has started training and could soon be selected for the squad. A positive point for the club, given the number of injuries suffered in defense this season.
The Brazilian will not be available for Los Blancos when they face FC Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday January 14. It is likely that Vinicius Jr will start against the Blaugrana, in order to renew his rivalry with Ronald Araujo.
