Tension has risen a notch in recent hours between PSG and Paris town hall. The fault of the protagonists, like this first outing by David Belliard, deputy in charge of the transformation of public space, at the start of the week to which Nasser Al-Khelaïfi responded with a resounding accusation of racist prejudices. The elected environmentalist was quick to respond the next day. “Calling me racist is defamation, and is not at the level of the issues of this important debate.” The subject is already thorny since the club wishes to buy the Parc des Princes and threatens to relocate home matches elsewhere, in particular in a possible new stadium which would probably be built outside the capital. After these friendly exchanges through the media, the Paris town hall tried to advocate appeasement.

This morning, Emmanuel Grégoire, first deputy at the town hall, said at the microphone of South Radio having made proposals to PSG. “The mayor said very clear things. She wants the Parc des Princes to remain part of the heritage of Parisians. It is a good of Parisians, a common good. The current shareholder of PSG is very good. He contributed a lot to the development of the club. We support the Park renovation project and the development of PSG.”therefore reaffirming that the Porte d’Auteuil stadium is still not for sale. “We want PSG to stay at the Parc des Princes and for the Parc des Princes to remain a football stadium. For this guarantee, it must remain a common good in favor of Parisians. (…) We have plenty of proposals to make, we just want to talk. The shareholder will find the means to make the investments he makes profitable. We have lots of innovative proposals. But we need to be able to discuss it quickly and do it calmly, not through the media.” PSG will have to make up their minds… or move.
