A dream physique. In a few years, Adama Traoré has sculpted the body of an Apollo. An impressive transformation that the player spoke about four years ago at La Sexta in Spain. “I don’t do push-ups or weight training. It’s hard to believe, but I don’t do any of that. It’s genetic. I do exercises, but not too much either because I gain muscle mass very quickly. However, the footballer born in 96 experienced several physical problems during his career.

This started in Spain. After a spell at CE L’Hospitalet, he joined FC Barcelona in 2004 at the age of 8. There, he climbed all the ranks in the youth categories within the famous Masia. Then he played with the reserves before taking his first professional steps at the age of 17 under the orders of Tata Martino. It was against Granada on November 23, 2013 (10 minutes played). In total, the Barcelona native played 4 games with the Culés in two years. Time to score a goal.

It’s complicated at Fulham

After that, he went to England where he played for Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton. A club where he gradually confirmed the hopes placed in him. In January 2022, he returned to FC Barcelona in the form of a loan. But this comeback didn’t really live up to expectations. In 17 appearances in all competitions, including 9 as a starter, he provided 4 assists. Sent back to Wolves, where he played a final season, he found himself free from any contract last summer after the end of his lease. Fulham thus opened the door for him and signed him until 2025.

For the moment, we cannot say that this choice is a success. However, things didn’t start off so badly. Indeed, he played 4 games for the Cottagers, including one as a starter. But in September, he joined the infirmary following a hamstring injury. He was therefore absent for 61 days, from September 11 to November 11 (9 missed matches). Returning to the field on November 12 against Aston Villa, he played 9 minutes. Shortly after, we learned that he had relapsed since he was still affected in the same place.

He keeps wounding

Result: he was on his side again. He has been arrested for 53 days, having missed 11 matches. We do not know more about the date of his return, but Fulham want to be careful to avoid another relapse. In total, of the 26 matches played by his team, he missed 20 due to injury (he was absent on the first day of the Premier League, editor’s note). He has only spent 104 minutes on the green rectangle this season. Obviously, it’s a disappointment for the Cottagers and for the player.

This is not his first physical problem. Since the start of his professional career, he has already been on the flank 14 times. But he has had few major injuries, apart from during his time at Aston Villa. He had a calf problem (25 days of absence and a metatarsal fracture (91 days of absence). Concerning the hamstrings, where he has problems this season, he has already had problems in the past at Wolverhampton (2 injuries in 2021 and 2022). Betrayed by his body, Adama Traoré hopes to get back to health in 2024!
