Pablo Longoria and Gennaro Gattuso assured this Thursday at a press conference that the Portuguese Vitinha would not leave OM during the month of January.

At the end of January 2023, Vitinha became the most expensive recruit in the history of Olympique de Marseille. Transferred from SC Braga for an amount of 32 million euros (bonus included), the Portuguese regularly disappoints because of a level of play considered insufficient.

However, his trainer does not seem to doubt his abilities. “Since my arrival he has played a lot. He can do well, he has very specific characteristics, he knows how to keep the ball and knows how to worry the opponent with pressing. Vitinha is an OM player, so I expect him to give his all. We’ll see what happens next. But I show him day after day that it is important to me, on how I treat him”declared Gennaro Gattuso this Thursday at a press conference, stressing that the amount of his transfer could have been a burden.

During this same press briefing, Pablo Longoria confirmed that Vitinha would still be an OM player at the end of this winter transfer window. “We have no offer for the player. It is up to him to seek continuity. We are happy with his daily work,” assured the president of the Marseille club. Since his arrival in Marseille, the Lusitanian number 9 has only scored six goals in 40 matches, in all competitions.
