Paris Saint-Germain did not apply to buy the Stade de France.

A move from Paris Saint-Germain to the Stade de France is no longer on the cards. Indeed, the capital club had until January 3 to submit its application for the purchase of the largest French stadium, but PSG ultimately did not submit any application.

This decision is explained by the fact that the Stade de France is located in Saint-Denis, in Seine Saint-Denis, rather than in Paris. The reigning French champion would like his stadium to be located in the capital, thus benefiting from the proximity to his supporters and the infrastructure of “the city of lights”.

PSG wants its own stadium

The Ligue 1 resident is nevertheless considering other alternatives, notably the Parc des Princes. However, the Paris town hall does not show any interest in the sale of the stadium to PSG. The president of the Ile-de-France club, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, explained the club’s desire to have its own venue, like the major European clubs. He wants a stadium that is “magnificent, safe, closer to the pitch”.

“Today, there are fans that we cannot receive,” NAK said. There is not enough space for families. We must be owners to develop our stadium. And we deserve it. This is also one of the conditions of our investors. »
