Didier Deschamps jokes about the absence of Lyonnais in the French team

In six months, the French team will try to become European champions, a little over a year after their failure in the World Cup final. The Blues, after an almost perfect qualifying phase with seven victories and a draw, will have to battle with Austria, the Netherlands and the winner of the path A play-offs. While their group has been built throughout of these qualifiers, few Lyonnais had the opportunity to wear the tricolor jersey. Malo Gusto and Castello Lukeba had their first selections last year, but were already no longer at OL. We have to go back to November 2021 to see a certain Léo Dubois wearing the French team jersey while under contract with OL.

Thus, present in Lyon on the occasion of the Yellow Pieces operation, the Blues coach Didier Deschamps was questioned by a craftsman, who asked him why few Lyonnais were summoned to France. To which the 55-year-old man responded ironically by saying that Les Gones “just had to be up to par.” While OL is raising its head in Ligue 1, it seems that Didier Deschamps is doing without his players to go to the Euro.
