Six months before the end of his contract with Stade Rennais, Steve Mandanda has chosen continuity. He will extend his lease for an additional season.
Having spent time in Le Havre, Marseille and Crystal Palace, Steve Mandanda ended up landing at Stade Rennais in the summer of 2022. An indisputable starter within the Breton club, the one who retired internationally just after the 2022 World Cup was hired until next June. Eager to continue the Rennes adventure, the goalkeeper will sign an extension which will see him stay for one more year.
The one who will be thirty-nine years old on March 28 has accepted the extension proposal presented by Stade Rennais, according to information revealed Monday by The Team. His first season in Rennes was successful and this year, he participated in all of the Ligue 1 matches played by his team. Not helped by a defense in great difficulty, Steve Mandanda however conceded twenty-two goals in seventeen championship matches.

However, his importance in the locker room remains preponderant and Julian Stephan’s choice to make him his new captain upon his arrival last November is an illustration of this. Steve Mandanda’s future is now clear: he will be in Rennes, at least for another year and a half.
