The Brazilian selection has just appointed a new manager at its technical helm.

After the short interim of Fernando Diniz, Brazil has just welcomed a new coach. The lucky one is Dorival Junior, who was in charge of Sao Paulo until then.

The Paulista club has also confirmed the information through a press release, specifying that it has agreed to release its technician for the benefit of a more prestigious mission.

Aged 61, Dorival Junior has coached almost everywhere in Brazil. For a little over twenty years, he has taken care of the biggest teams in the country. He was also a professional player at the highest level, but without ever knowing the honor of a Seleçao cap.

His main task will be to qualify the Auriverde for the 2026 World Cup and possibly get the 6e planetary title of this selection. The one the whole nation has been waiting for since 2002.

Before setting its sights on Dorival Junior, the Brazilian federation had considered several renowned coaches. Carlo Ancelotti had been tracked for several months, but the Italian technician ended up extending his contract to Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane had also been approached. According to his friend Christophe Dugarry, he did not feel like occupying this position.
