Chants of at least dubious taste, and more probably racist, were heard in the stands during Thionville-OM.
The Coupe de France match between US Thionville Lusitanos and Olympique de Marseille, played this Sunday at the Stade Saint-Symphorien in Metz, seems to have been the scene of racist chants. A video posted on Traditionally, it was rather near the Parc des Princes that these words were heard, but a group from Metz has obviously taken it up…
This song has several times been described as problematic, the rats in question describing the North African population of Marseille. What is sadly ironic is that the Thionville team, theoretically supported by these people, is made up of several players themselves of North African origin.
French football authorities have never sanctioned this chant and it is unlikely that this will be the case after this Coupe de France match.
