It’s a fairly surprising transfer that should take place this winter…

He arrived last summer with the status of a promising prospect and a well-known surname in the French football landscape, but Marquinhos’ adventure in Ligue 1 should come to an end. Loaned by Arsenal to FC Nantes, the young Brazilian striker (20 years old) should leave the Canaries during this winter transfer window.

Marquinhos, departure through the back door

According to information from L’Equipe, Marquinhos’ loan should be canceled. The winger, who only made 7 small appearances with FC Nantes, did not perform sufficiently with the French club. In difficulty on a sporting level, Marquinhos also maintained very fresh relationships with his management. At issue: his participation in the Pan American Games in the fall, and his selection for the pre-Olympic tournament of the Conmebol zone, scheduled from January 20 to February 11. A deadline which does not enter into the FIFA calendar and which FC Nantes opposed.

The namesake of the PSG captain should therefore leave Nantes and the French championship this winter. In the immediate future, a return to Arsenal is anticipated, before a potential new loan to seek playing time.
