FC Barcelona could be offered a low-cost deal to sign Manchester United defender Raphaël Varane in January.
The ex-France international has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford as the change of ownership brings a new approach to the Mancunian club. Erik ten Hag was informed that he had to sell players before signing new ones. England international Jadon Sancho is set to return on loan to his former club Borussia Dortmund.
A betrayal for Varane?
Varane has been earmarked as another possible departure, but the experienced centre-back is not keen on the prospect of a move to Saudi Arabia. According to the latest information from Teamtalk.com, United are ready to sell the former Real Madrid star for around 20 million euros, as part of negotiations with FC Barcelona.
A sale of Varane would free up funds and space on United’s wage bill, where Ten Hag is unconvinced of his long-term place within the group. A return to Madrid also remains possible, due to the injury crisis that the Merengue club is currently experiencing, but the Madrilenians are reportedly aiming for a price closer to 10 million euros.
