The head of France Football magazine would have received a funny gift from Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Two years ago, PSG went to get Lionel Messi from Barcelona. After recruiting the Argentine genius, the Ile-de-France officials then did everything to ensure him the Ballon d’Or. And the methods used were shameful to say the least.
The Golden Ball of shame
According to what Le Monde reports, in its edition to be published on Sunday, the Ile-de-France club would have offered numerous gifts to the head of France Football, the magazine which organizes the BO competition. And among its advantages, there was notably a basket containing five kilos of dates. They were waiting for Mr Ferré in a hotel in Doha, where he had gone on an unofficial visit.
The editor-in-chief of FF was also entitled to business class tickets, as well as seats with acquaintances during PSG’s flagship matches in the Champions League. A privilege that no other journalist or media manager has enjoyed. In return, he had to provide good publicity for NAK while ensuring Messi special exposure for the 2021 edition of the Ballon d’Or.
La Pulga ended up winning the individual trophy. He beat Robert Lewandowski. A triumph which was very contested at the time. Ferré fulfilled his mission. And as a reward, he was given a position as communications manager at PSG. An arrangement between friends, as if nothing had happened.
