Who is the most expensive player in the world?

This Thursday, the CIES football observatory unveiled the list of the 100 most expensive players on the planet.

At the start of 2024, the CIES football observatory has, as is often the case, published the ranking of the 100 most expensive players on the planet. This ranking is based in particular on the performances of the players, their age, their club, their championship but also the duration of their contract, which explains the fairly low ranking of Kylian Mbappéwhose contract with PSG expires in June.

No French in the top 10

The French international is in 27th place in the rankings with an estimated value of 106 million euros, making him the highest ranked player in Ligue 1, but not among French players. This place is in fact occupied by Eduardo Camavinga15th with 133 million euros.

The top 10 is mainly made up of players playing in La Liga or the Premier League with the sole exception of Jamal Musiala (9th). It is Jude Bellingham (€268M) who dominates this ranking ahead of his former teammate Erling Haaland (€251M) and Vinicius (€250M) which complete the podium. Estimated at 104 million euros, William Saliba is the third and last French player in the top 30. The Blues are however well represented with 11 players in the top 100, only England and Brazil (12 each) do better .
