Coming out of Paris Saint-Germain’s victory against Toulouse last Wednesday (2-0), Luis Enrique made headlines by dropping quite a punchline on his choice not to use Manuel Ugarte in this match. “Ugarte? Today he was magnificent: no lost balls, no mistakes, perfect”. Except that the Spaniard explained himself immediately afterwards, which very few media relayed. And unsurprisingly, he wanted to send a message of motivation to the Uruguayan community.

“It’s a very high level team and I want two incredible players in every position. For what ? So that no one falls asleep and everyone improves. I’m delighted with Manu Ugarte and all the players who didn’t play today. They can’t all be involved. This is the competition we want in a team of this level, for Manu Ugarte and for all the players. That’s the goal: to be better every day. I always want them to improve, I’m not satisfied with a result. » The debate is closed.
