Recruited from River Plate by the City Group, Claudio Echeverri could make his debut in Europe with Girona.
He is 1.71m tall, wears the armband and number 10 with Argentina, and he is quite good with a football. At 18, Claudio Echeverri is the new nugget from the country of world champions. And the Albiceleste U17 team captain is destined to play Manchester City.
According to the daily Olé, the City Group got its hands on the jewel by paying 18 million euros, plus 9 million euros in bonuses. The “Diablito” will in principle stay at River Plate, where he should be loaned for a year, until December 2024. But if his playing time is deemed insufficient, the City Group could decide to bring him to Europe rather than planned, so that it continues its progress.
For him to adapt to the European game, Echeverri could initially go through the Girona box. The Spanish club also belongs to the City Group, which uses it to highlight its young talents, like the Brazilian Savinho. Echeverri, who will sign until 2029 with the City Group, could spend one or two seasons in La Liga before making the leap to the Premier League.
