Looking for offensive reinforcement, FC Metz strikes hard with the return of Georges Mikautadze, on loan from Ajax with an option to buy, just six months after being transferred to Amsterdam.

Fourteenth in Ligue 1 at the break with one of the worst attacks in the championship, Metz, which was in great need of offensive reinforcements, already has its first recruit in this sector. And it’s a very nice move! Announced for several weeks, the return of Georges Mikautadze is now official, Ajax Amsterdam having confirmed the news on Thursday.

Transferred last summer to the Lancers for 15 million euros, the Georgian international striker (23 years old) did not convince in the Netherlands, where he only played 9 matches, and so here he is on loan until at the end of the season at the Lorraine club. The Moselle leaders have a purchase option of 10 million euros to keep the former top scorer in Ligue 2.

Sold for €15 million, bought back for €10 million?

To avoid spending the second half of the season on the bench, Georges Mikautadze had no other choice but to return to Saint-Symphorien. He actually started the exercise in the Metz jersey (2 goals in 3 matches) before moving to Ajax, and the regulations prohibit him from playing for three different teams in the same season. A boon for the FCM.
