Milan Skriniar’s serious injury is yet another obstacle at the dawn of a very busy 2024 for Paris Saint-Germain.
A year ago, when he was still wearing the colors of Inter, Milan Skriniar had to put his career on hold due to recurring back problems. After regaining sensations and playing a series of matches since his arrival at Paris Saint-Germain, the Slovak international is forced to once again join the infirmary.
This time, it is the central defender’s ankle which is affected. Grimacing in the second half during the match counting for the Champions Trophy against Toulouse, Wednesday evening (2-0), the central defender of Paris Saint-Germain quickly stopped his action to ask for a change.
Luis Enrique has Skriniar’s replacement
If the capital club has not yet recorded the duration of Skriniar’s absence, the Slovak would consider having surgery on his left ankle and could draw a line under the rest of this 2023-24 campaign. A tile for Luis Enrique, who already has to deal with the long-term absences of Presnel Kimpembe and Nuno Mendes in defense.
If the prospect of seeing a new reinforcement arrive in this sector cannot be excluded, Paris would already have Skriniar’s digital replacement. And the supporters of the Parc des Princes were able to discover it on Wednesday evening: this is Lucas Beraldo. Launched into the deep end by Luis Enrique, the young 20-year-old Brazilian received a standing ovation from the Park with each of his touches of the ball. Its quality of relaunch, in particular, contrasts with Skriniar’s less academic style. It remains to be seen whether PSG’s winter reinforcement will take advantage of this situation to grab more minutes than expected.
Otherwise, Luis Enrique would have other options, with the possibilities of aligning Danilo, Nordi Mukiele or even Lucas Hernandez in the axis.
