A Ligue 1 club is traditionally a big spender during the winter transfer window. And it’s not about PSG.
Since midnight on Monday, January 1, the winter transfer window has opened its doors in most European countries. Unlike the transfer market during the summer period, that of the first month of the calendar year is not considered essential by specialists. It is regularly referred to as a “correction” market by the latter.
The site Sportune has compiled the investments of the 18 current Ligue 1 clubs during this period, over the last ten seasons. It is AS Monaco which comes quite far at the top of the ranking, with more than 180 million euros spent. Paris Saint-Germain is in second position, with almost 50 million euros less injected than the Principality club.

Note that in January 2017, PSG had the biggest winter market in its history in terms of spending. And yet, at the end of the season, the Rouge et Bleu had let the title of French champion slip away in favor of Monaco.
