In the event of a draw at the end of regulation time, Wednesday evening at the Parc des Princes, PSG and TFC will compete for the Champions Trophy directly on penalties.
It’s already time for recovery for PSG and TFC! While the other elite clubs will wait this weekend to play their first match of 2024, Parisians and Toulouse residents will meet on Wednesday evening (8:45 p.m.), at the Parc des Princes, for the traditional Champions Trophy. which pits the winners of Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France against each other.
Usually, it is before the start of the season that this title is put into play. This should also be the case in 2023 since the match was initially scheduled for Bangkok (Thailand) on August 5, but the organizer of the event withdrew two months earlier. The LFP therefore had to find a plan B and its choice to fall back on this date, in Paris, was ratified at the end of November.

A difficult decision to digest for the Violets, already far from being favorites on paper against Luis Enrique’s players, who will try to win the twelfth Champions Trophy in the history of the Rouge et Bleu. The tenth in the last eleven editions. But Téfécé will still have a chance to play, because the format of the meeting could hold a surprise.
A chance for the TFC?
Unlike most finals, there will be no extra time between the current leader and play-off team in Ligue 1. In the event of a draw at the end of regulation time, the two teams will have to decide directly on penalties. A measure taken to spare the players, in a context of winter recovery which is always complicated for the organizations.
If Carles Martinez Novell’s troops hold out against the Ile-de-France residents for 90 minutes, they will then have every chance of creating the feat, with penalties regularly causing unexpected scenarios. It will then be time for the two clubs to prepare their 32e final of the Coupe de France, against Revel (R1) for PSG and against Chambéry (N3) for TFC.
