David De Gea, it's over

David De Gea has been without a club for a few months, having left Manchester United when his contract expired at the end of June.

Despite links with many clubs, including in La Liga, David De Gea has remained a free agent, although that could change during the winter transfer window.

At this point, the most likely is that De Gea returns to the Premier League. He could join Manchester United, according to Estadio Deportivo, to replace André Onana, who joined Cameroon ahead of this month’s Africa Cup of Nations. He is also tipped to join Newcastle United, who lost their starting goalkeeper Nick Pope to injury at the end of 2023.

Retirement is also an option for De Gea, according to the English newspaper The Mirror. The inability to find a new club got the better of the former Atlético de Madrid goalkeeper, even if his main goal is to return to football as quickly as possible.
