The Algerian selection which is preparing to take part in the 2024 African Cup of Nations has announced that it will be without Amine Gouiri, due to injury.

Four years after winning the competition, Algeria presents itself with new ambitions for the 2024 African Cup of Nations. Exited prematurely during the last edition finally won by Senegal, the selection coached by Djamel Belmadi wants to believe in its chances of returning to success. However, a hard blow came to somewhat dampen the enthusiasm of the Fennecs, with the announced withdrawal of Amine Gouiri.

This Monday, the Algerian Football Federation made the news official through a press release. “ The technical staff of the national team, in consultation with the medical staff, decided to release striker Amine Gouiri due to injury preventing him from taking part in the next CAN. (…) Also based on the medical file of his club, Stade Rennais FC, it was decided to spare the player and allow him to recover properly. »

No replacement yet

No name has yet been announced to replace the former OGC Nice player. In the meantime, the Algerian selection continues to prepare for a competition which will begin on January 15 with a first group match against Angola. It will then continue with an opposition against Burkina Faso on January 20, and will end this first round with a duel against Mauritania on the 23rd.
