The Portuguese obviously does not understand why he is not in the Top 10 best players of the year 2023.
Obviously, Cristiano Ronaldo has lost his thirst for titles and recognition with his departure to Saudi Arabia. We see it with the goals that the Portuguese stacks up with Al-Nassr, and his behavior on the pitch. But also with certain interactions on social networks.
This week, Ronaldo reacted to the ranking of the best players of the year 2023, published by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS), an organization for historical and statistical studies of football.
In what could be an announcement of the results of The Best trophy, Erling Haaland comes in first position, quite well ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi. Rodri, Jude Bellingham, Kevin De Bruyne, Harry Kane, Bernardo Silva, Vinicius Jr and Lautaro Martinez.
Ronaldo, however, scored a lot
Ronaldo, clearly, is not convinced by this hierarchy. On Instagram, the five-time Ballon d’Or reacted with a series of emojis that say it all. No doubt he would have liked to be in this Top 10, having scored around fifty goals with Al-Nassr and Portugal this calendar year.
The Top 10 is nothing crazy, however, even if we can always wonder what Lionel Messi did, apart from winning the Leagues Cup with Inter Miami, to appear so high in the ranking. But since the 2022 World Cup, the Argentinian has benefited from an exceptional aura, which undoubtedly makes Ronaldo a little jealous…
