Cristiano Ronaldo, crowned top scorer of the year 2023, has set himself the ambitious goal of repeating his feat in 2024.

Ronaldo scored his 54th goal of 2023 in Al-Nassr’s 4-1 win over Al-Taawoun, allowing his team to reduce the gap that separates them from the championship leader, Al-Hilal, to seven points. Ronaldo’s goal puts him ahead of Englishman Harry Kane at Bayern Munich, as well as Frenchman Kylian Mbappé at PSG (52 goals each). After the match, the Portuguese icon set his sights on being top of the table again next year.

In an interview with Saudi channel SSC Sports, Ronaldo said: “I’m very happy, it was a good year for me as an individual as well as for the group. I scored a lot of goals, I helped the team at Al-Nassr and the national team a lot. I feel good, I’m happy and next year I’ll try to do it again.”

Ronaldo has scored goals wherever he has played and has continued to do so since joining Al-Nassr last December. Despite being let go by Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United, the 38-year-old’s goalscoring instinct has not left him and he continues to rack up the goals in Saudi Arabia, as well as with the team Portuguese national.
