Serie A: Adrien Rabiot gives Juve victory against AS Roma

Published:

By: Nicolas Gerbault

Making its best start to the year since the 2019-2020 season, the year of its last title, Juventus Turin was keen to end the calendar year in style. And this required a favorable result in front of their home crowd against AS Roma, who started this 19th day of Serie A five points off the podium. Having won only one of their last 14 clashes played at the Allianz Stadium, La Louve tied the match with the Old Lady during the first act. With duels and intensity, all the ingredients were there to see the supporters vibrate in the stands. But neither Kenan Yildiz (29th) nor his Roman counterpart Paulo Dybala (31st) managed to find the target.

If the opening score was decided in detail in the first half, Juventus Turin showed accuracy and efficiency to break the deadlock after returning from the locker room. And the solution came from Adrien Rabiot, intractable with the Bianconeri since the resumption in August. With a little success, the French international took advantage of a clever deflection from Dusan Vlahovic to slip the ball into the right place and deceive Rui Patricio (1-0, 47th). Behind, his partners did the job to preserve this advantage on the scoreboard and even thought of doubling the bet, but Federico Chiesa saw his goal refused for offside (88th). With this victory, the Piedmontese club remains runner-up to Inter Milan but reduces the gap with the Lombard team. Falling from Napoli at the weekend, the Roman club performed poorly and remained in seventh place, 8 points from the podium.
