Arriving in Germany last August from Olympique Lyonnais, Castello Lukeba quickly got in tune with RB Leipzig. The 21-year-old central defender is an essential part of Marco Rose’s XI and has already played 15 Bundesliga games (for one goal). An express acclimatization which does not surprise him. “I have integrated well. My sister and her son are there with me and she helps me with daily tasks. So I can concentrate fully on football. Am I surprised I play so much? Not really. That’s why I came here, I wanted to play a lot to develop myself further. I’m happy to be here and I want to achieve all our goals with the RB.”he confides to BILD.
Performing within a competitive team, 4th in the Bundesliga and which will face Real Madrid in the 1/8 finals of the Champions League, Castello Lukeba could well find his way to Euro 2024 with the Blues. “I was part of the senior national team once, of course the tournament is a big dream. But otherwise, I will play with our U21s at the Paris Olympics. Both would be good for me, it’s always a great honor to play for your country. I have a good relationship with the under-21 coach, Thierry Henry. Theoretically, I can even play the two tournaments one after the other, but then I will need a very long vacation (laughs)”he finally laughs.
